Evergreen Health Plan Changes Effective
January 1, 2009 |
|
| |
| |
Evergreen Medical Group has reached an agreement
with Humana on a five-year commercial and
Medicare network contract.
This agreement will provide access to all
Columbus Regional facilities for Humana
commercial and Medicare members. The agreement
was effective January 1, 2009.
Humana also will reinsure the employer group
members of Evergreen Health Plan, a nonprofit
provider sponsored health plan.
Humana also has reached a long-term agreement
with Columbus Regional to administer the health
benefits for Columbus Regional’s 6,200 members.
Evergreen is a highly successful health plan
with approximately 15,000 members in the
Columbus area.
Evergreen Health Plan will continue to do
business in the Columbus market until all the
business can be retired. We expect this to occur
in late 2010 or early 2011.
Evergreen Health Plan is owned by Evergreen
Medical Group. The Evergreen Medical Group is
jointly owned by Columbus Healthcare Resources,
Inc., an affiliate of Columbus Regional, and
physician investors.
Evergreen Medical Group has approximately 300
physicians. It serves approximately 45,000
members through multiple payer contracts.
Evergreen Medical Group will continue to operate
as a Physician Hospital Organization. We
anticipate expanding the role of Evergreen
Medical Group over the next couple of years to
include additional services.
This is a positive move for Evergreen Health
Plan and Humana. For Evergreen, we have an
outstanding opportunity to partner with a
respected and experienced carrier. Humana gains
the opportunity to contract with area employers
to offer an array of insurance products that
meet their needs and the needs of their
employees. |
