Evergreen Health Plan Changes |
|
| |
| |
Some exciting changes are happening to the
Evergreen Health Plan.
From its' inception as a HMO type Health Plan,
Evergreen has required a referral from your
Primary Care Physician (PCP) when you needed to
see a specialist. With a focus on preventive
care, this "gatekeeper model" was very effective
in directing members to their PCP. After careful
review of our referral patterns and thoughtful
discussions with many of the PCP's, Evergreen
has decided to eliminate the requirement for
referrals to in-network specialist effective
October 1, 2006. Please remember that your PCP
should still be your initial point of contact
for health-related issues and should be used for
all preventive and routine health issues. Also,
please remember that certain procedures and all
out-of -network visits still require an
authorization.
Evergreen also has some news regarding it's
provider network. Evergreen Health Plan and
Columbus Clinic have reached an agreement and
Columbus Clinic will be joining the network of
participating physicians. They will be effective
no later than January 1, 2007 and we will make
every effort to complete this process by
December 1, 2006.
Some of the Columbus Clinic physicians have very
busy practices. None of them have closed their
practice. But, new patients may have to wait for
an appointment with some of the physicians. They
encourage you to check before enrolling with a
specific doctor. If you are an existing patient,
this should not be an issue. |
